TOURNAMENT RECAP Despite Sergio Garcia's well-known problem of putting, it was the flat stick that led the young Spaniard to his victory. After a clutch putt for par on No. 17 in the very windy final round, Garcia went on to par the intimidating 18th hole and then had nothing left to do but wait to see what leader -- by one stroke -- Paul Goydos would do right behind him. Unable to make the par he needed to win on No. 18, Goydos bogeyed the final hole and entered into a playoff with Garcia. The playoff began -- and ended -- on the 17th hole, where Goydos hit his first shot into the water, and Garcia landed his shot -- with a little help from the wind -- just a few feet from the pin. In true Garcia fashion, he two putted for the victory and became only the second European PLAYERS Championship winner in the tournament's 35-year history.
